Our Plans

United Church of Christ (Congregational) is looking to make our church better for several generations to follow. In order to fulfill our needs, an exciting and extensive plan has been put in place and calls for maintenance on our existing facilities, adding additional parking and creating space for administration.

Church Maintenance
We are planning a number of renovations to our worship space to make it more welcoming, accessible and functional for our church family and visitors.

• To enhance our sanctuary and worship experience the stained glass windows will be inspected and repairs will be made to both the lead and the frames.  Improvements will also be made to the protective glass, and all of this will ensure our windows can be enjoyed for many years to come.  
• The church roof will be replaced with a new roof with a lifetime warranty that even includes hail damage.
• We will rebuild the front steps leading into the church. Safe and attractive steps will serve to warmly welcome all those who use them. 
• The seven exterior wood doors will be replaced with new doors that will be safe and efficient.  No longer will we worry about someone getting hurt, and our energy bills will be lower.
• A new HVAC/boiler system will serve to keep our members and guests comfortable and also allow for energy efficiency.     
• To ensure the safety of all our members we will have the elevator thoroughly examined and repaired.
• The bathrooms in both the religious wing and elevator wing will be remodeled and updated with fresh paint and fixtures. 

Religious Education Upgrades
The future of our church is our youth and children who attend religious education weekly. We want to have them feel comfortable and be able to grow in our faith.

• The light fixtures in all the classrooms will be replaced to not only look more aesthetic, but also to be more energy efficient.  
• All classrooms will be painted and the floors will be replaced to modernize the wing.
• The cabinets will be replaced to allow for more storage.
• The nursery, choir room and classroom will also be updated with new paint, floors, and light fixtures.

Accessibility Plans

• When we demolish the Annex, we will have room to add additional parking spaces that will be close to the church. This will eliminate members parking on the streets and members having to walk far to attend service.
• We will install a ramp at the entrance to the education wing.  This will allow for easy access to the areas that house our many ministries and meetings.  No longer will accessibility be an issue for anyone wanting to be involved.  

Administrative Office Plans
Since we will be tearing down the annex to create more room for parking, we plan to build a new space to house four administrative offices, a conference room, reception area and a breakroom. This will enable the staff to work in close proximity to our worship center and have everyone under one roof.
We are actively looking to have the historical home that is located next to the annex purchased for a small fee. This will help offset the demolition cost and preserve the historical value of our city.
